A Celebration of Life Service for Darlene Myers, 93, of Perry, Iowa will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Murdock Funeral Home. Visitation will start at 12:00 noon prior to the service. A private burial will take place in Violet Hill Cemetery at a later date. Darlene passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Spring Valley Retirement Community.

Darlene Ruth Myers was born December 11, 1928 in Dedham, Iowa, the daughter of William and Faye Violet (Burger) Small. Darlene grew up in the Guthrie County area, and she graduated from Guthrie Center High School with the class of 1946. In her earlier years, she taught in country schools and in later life, she taught at Kay’s Pre-school in Perry.

Darlene married Leo D. “Mike” Myers on August 28, 1949 in Audubon, Iowa. The couple moved from Audubon to Perry in 1956 where they raised their family and made Perry their home.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Roxanne (Greg) Owens of Junction City, WI; two sons, Randy (Ruth) Myers of Bouton, IA, and Rusty (Sharon) Myers of Perry, IA; seven grandchildren, Corey (Nicole) Myers, Cody Myers, Colby (Mollie) Myers, Cady (Ana) Myers, Mandy (Dave) Meyers, Kelsey (Cory) Cleppe, Janine (Brent) Zinkevcz; eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Shaw of Audubon, IA; sisters-in-law, Shirley Small of Fremont, NE, Colleen Small of Atlantic, IA; Marcia Bourke of Audubon, IA, and brother-in-law, Darrell (Gertrude) Myers of Visalia, CA.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Mike on October 2, 2000; three brothers, Floyd Small, Phil Small and wife, Alice, Lloyd Small; one sister, Gloria Horning and husband, Dean.

Memorials will be directed to the Perry Public Library and may be sent to Murdock Funeral Home in care of the family. Online condolences may be left at murdockfuneralhome.net.
