Harley E. Seeman age 99 of Woodward, Iowa, passed away January 3,2024 at Eden Acres in Perry, Iowa, with family by his side. Harley was born May 2,1924 in rural Bouton, Iowa, the son of John and Dora (Meier) Seeman. He attended Banner School until the ninth grade when he decided the farm was where he wanted to be.
Harley was drafted in the US Army Air Corp May 22,1945 and was Honorably Discharged November 13, 1946. He served in Iceland as a crane operator.
Harley was united in marriage to Esther Hirschi on July 12,1947 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bouton, Iowa. They were married for thirty six and a half years before her death on January 6,1984. Family was a very important part of his life and he instilled a strong work ethic in his children.
Harley saw lots of changes from farming with horses to driving tractors with auto steer. He raised hogs and fed cattle for many years. He was active in farming until the age of 99. Harley was a past member and a board member of the Boone County Cattlemen’s Association, Farm Bureau member and belonged to the St Paul Lutheran Church. His hobby was restoring old tractors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Esther, grandson Jacob Seeman, granddaughter- in- law Amber King, sister Esther Brooks, brother-in-law Nace Brooks, sister-in-law Gladys Hansen and brother-in-law Harold Hansen.
He is survived by his three children Larry (Sandy) Seeman Woodward, Jim (Gail) Seeman Woodward, Peg (Jon) King Boone, Iowa. Grandchildren Carley (Brad) Schell, granddaughter-in-law Mindy Seeman, Heidi (Johan) Larsson, Brandon King, and Stacy (Hoss) Walters. Great grandchildren, Harley Schell, Annika, Linnea and Helena Larsson, Kaden and Brady Seeman, Skyler and Katelyn Walters, Gracie King, Chelsey (Tyler) Ehlers and Maddie Sturtz. Great- great grandson Asher Ehlers. Nephews Stewart Brooks and Michael Hansen, niece Barbara Brooks and his beloved dog Bubby.

Funeral services are planned at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bouton, Iowa on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Peoples Cemetery in rural Boone County. A visitation will be held at Murdock Funeral Home, Monday, January 8,2024 with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
