Graveside service for Jerry Allen, 79, of Perry, IA will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Violet Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Murdock Funeral Home. Jerry passed away Friday, May 28, 2021 at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston, IA. Jerrald David Allen was born June 30, 1941 in Jefferson, Iowa, the son of Wayne Ray and Elsie Gertrude (Rohner) Allen. He graduated from Dawson High School with the class of 1960. Jerry married Jane Ann Hood at St Patrick Catholic Church in Perry on June 1, 1974. He farmed, raised cattle and lived in the Dawson and Perry area his entire life. He spent several summers working for Dallas County Conservation patrolling the parks and trails on weekends. He enjoyed the Iowa State Fair and camping there for 29 years. Jerry spent many hours fixing, building and tinkering on projects, not to mention helping others. Jerry was a member of St Patrick Catholic Church in Perry. Jerry passed away Friday, May 28, 2021 at the Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston, IA at the age of 79. Survivors include his wife, Jane of Perry, IA; son, Brent Allen of Johnston, IA; daughter, Kari Allen of Perry, IA; 2 grand-dogs Roscoe and Toby; Cousin, Annie Moore of Kent, IA and Sister-in-law, Arkie Hood of Manchester, IA. Preceding him in death were his parents; father and mother-in-law, Harvey and Isabel Hood and brother-in-law, Dick Hood. In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to “ Above and Beyond Cancer “ and may be sent to Murdock Funeral Home.
