Graveside services for Pauline Soumas, 95, of Manhattan, KS will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 3, 2020 at Violet Hill Cemetery. Pauline passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Ascension Via Christi Village in Manhattan. Murdock Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pauline P. Soumas was born January 26, 1925, in Perry, Iowa, the daughter of Pete A. and Anna (Kokinakis) Soumas. She attended Perry Community Schools and graduated from Perry High School. She attended the University of Iowa for two years and went on to and graduated from the Katherine Gibbs School in Chicago. She worked in banking as an assistant to a bank president after graduating. In 1956, she moved to Manhattan, KS, where she was a conference coordinator and accountant in the Division of Continuing Education at Kansas State University until her retirement in 1994. She then joined Waddell and Reed as a mutual fund advisor until again retiring. Pauline had a strong allegiance to her Greek roots and was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church. Preceding Pauline in death were her parents, beloved brother George P. and sister-in-law Agnes Soumas and two nephews, Perry and Pete Soumas. Pauline is survived by her niece, Mary (Toby) Nelson of Altoona, IA. Memorials in Pauline’s name may be sent to Murdock Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at murdockfuneralhome.net
